30 weeks came and went...and then 31 weeks came...
Rob got the stomach flu, like so many people have this winter, on Tuesday night (of week 31). We were up pretty much the entire night (good preparation for what's to come with Luke I'm sure!) and Rob lost a good 5 pounds in only a few days. It was not fun and pretty stressful...and I'm sure if you'd ask Rob he'd say a few other words that it was :) I was off work on Wednesday, so luckily I was home to take care of my poor hubby who was still feeling pretty crappy! On Thursday of that week, I had to go to work and felt bad leaving Rob all by himself, so I called his parents, and it was so nice of his Dad to come and hang out with him all day. I went to work...well, for a few hours.
I just wasn't feeling that good and kept praying I was not getting what Rob (AND my parents) had. However, after being at work for a short time, I realized I was having contractions (or what I thought was Braxton Hicks) with really bad "back pain" too. That is no fun when you are on your feet for 12 hours. I found myself sitting WHENEVER I saw a chair and leaning up against cribs in the NICU just to make it through my morning. When I saw my supervisor I told her how I was feeling and wasn't sure I was going to make it through the day. When I said I was having back pain, she immediately made me call the doctor and sent me home. I drove to my parents, knowing that Rob was still kinda sick at home AND knowing that his dad was already taking care of him...he didn't have to take care of both of us!!! My mom drove me to the doctor that afternoon and I swore I would go to the doctor and she would think I was another crazy pregnant lady who didn't know the difference between Braxton Hicks and "REAL" contractions. Surprise Surprise...they were REAL contractions! So that was it...I left work that morning, apparently for good! My doctor took me off work for the rest of my pregnancy AND put me on Terbutaline to stop the contractions. She did a test, that if it came back postive, would mean Luke would probably be making his debut in the next couple weeks...luckily that test came back negative, reassuring everyone he was going to stay in for at least a little longer! And here we are...at 34 (and a half!) weeks, with Luke still cooking away! The Terbutaline has slowed the contractions down...although they have not stopped, and I continue to "take it easy," in order for Luke to have a little more "growing time." At my last doctors appointment, she told me that if he decides to come now, she won't stop him, because he is measuring a week bigger, and has a head that is WAY ahead (thanks to Daddy's genes!!)...however, working in the NICU, I know that little white boys are pretty whimpy, so as anxious as I am to meet our little man, I know it's best for him to grow a little more.
So...there is our 31 week story...doesn't it sound fun!!?????

Cute belly pics...sit in your house this next week, turn everything off and enjoy the sound of silence...
